DOOR SYSTEM


Metecno-Aluma Shield Max-R™ insulated sectional door panels offer a number of unique features. These features enhance performance through stable R-values, superior corrosion resistance, structural integrity and excellent finish.

Steel Skins:

High quality galvanized steel offers unsurpassed corrosion resistance and excellent panel detail.
Paint Finish: PPG Siliconized Polyester paint, a full 1-mil. thick resists fading, chalking and blistering.

Insulation:

Polyiso foam insulation with an outstanding 95% closed cell structure. With this foam structure, the door panels will not lose any appreciable amount of R-value because the foam will not decompose with time. Closed cells are sealed from air, moisture and light. The door will not absorb moisture.

Hardware Attachment:

22-gauge, 3-3/4" hinge backing plates for secure attachment of full size hinges. These plates also provide multiple attachment points for secure attachment of reinforcing struts. This is especially important in heavy wind areas.

Section Joints:

Section joints offer superior tongue-in-groove arrangements to seal out wind, moisture and extreme temperatures. Full thermal break inhibits thermal transmission across the panel.

Commercial sectional door panels have a stucco embossed painted profile with shadowlines for added strength. The panels are produced in a continuous process with liquid polyiso insulation injected between the interior and exterior metal surfaces. The result is a solid and aesthetically pleasing monolithic panel strong enough to bear commercial abuses. polyiso insulation is highly efficient giving these panels twice as much energy effiency as polystyrene. The pre-painted 1-mil. thick PPG finish is most suitable for commercial and industrial door applications.Metecno-Aluma Shield stands ready to provide you with the commercial door sections you need for strong, durable overhead doors.

    Short-term Finish:                                                                                          The prepainted surfaces of Aluma Shield panels are covered with a protective film of polyethylene. The protective film to be remove@ time of install.

   Warranties:

Aluma Shield Industries, Inc. warrants the insulated panels manufactured by them to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service.  The panels will perform as described on the approved submittal sheets. They will have adequate structural strength to prevent excessive bowing or delamination under conditions for which they were sold.
   
 

 Residential Sectional Door Panels

Metecno-Aluma Shield offers a wide variety of super insulated garage doors for the home.

Choices include Flush, Raised, Panel and Long Panel designs. We offer both 1-3/8" with R 11.5 insulation and 1-3/4" with an R-value of 14.5. The colors available include White, Almond, Sandstone and Brown. The end caps can either be steel or heavy gauge vinyl.

These Max-R™ series panels features an attractive wood grain design perfectly suited for residential garage door applications. And because we use only foamed-in-place polyiso insulation, you get panels that deliver the very highest R-values... much higher than that offered by manufacturers who utilize polystyrene insulation.

We stand ready to provide you with high quality sectional door panels which can be easily assembled, quickly and profitably. Worldwide over 1.5 billion square feet of insulated panels have been manufactured and installed.

Storage

Short-term storage instructions: The prepainted surfaces of Aluma Shield panels are covered with a protective film of polyethylene. Exposure to extended periods of direct sunlight could render the removal of the film very difficult.

All garage doors require periodic maintenance. The amount of maintenance necessary is directly related to the door’₯s frequency of use, the type of use it encounters and the severity of its location. (Humidity, sandstorms etc.)

Panel: S 200 Series

Part 1: General

Door panels shall be manufactured by Metecno-Aluma Shield, & Supplied by:

1.01 Panel design

The door panels shall be of steel / polyurethane / steel, manufactured by continuous line process to include a thermal break and continuous internal plates for hinge attachment.

1.02 External and internal Steel

The steel shall be of a commercial quality, hot dipped, galvanized with a polyester, stucco embossed paint finish.

1.03 Profile

The panel shall have 4 microgrooves on each side.

1.04 Hinge plates

Shall be formed of 18 gauge galvanized steel 3 3/4" wide and continuous.

1.05 Insulation

Shall be rigid foamed in place polyurethane, CFC free, with a minimum 95% closed cell structure.

1.06 Joint

Shall be gasketed on the tongue and the groove side.

Part 2 - Product

2.01 - A Material

The basic panel shall be 1.3/4" thick, 8’ to 24’ wide. The side joint shall be gasketed tongue and groove.

2.01 - B. Exterior face and finish

1. The exterior face panel shall have four "V" striations and have a stucco embossed finish. It shall be formed of 26 gauge galvanized steel, hot dipped, commercial quality galvanized steel and using a minimum dry film thickness of 1 mil with a polyester baked on top coat of 0.8 mil and primer of 0.2 mil.

2. Exterior finish shall be Aluma Shield White color.

C. Interior liner and finish

The interior face panel shall have four "V" striations and have a stucco embossed finish. It shall be formed of 28 gauge galvanized steel, hot dipped, commercial quality galvanized steel and using a minimum dry film thickness of 1 mil with a polyester baked on top coat of 0.8 mil and primer of 0.2 mil.

D. Insulation

1. The continuous foam-in-place urethane core of each panel shall have the following minimum physical properties:

Density: 2.52 lbs. / cu. ft.

Shear strength: 47 psi (to rise)

Tensile strength: 41 psi

Compressive strength: 33 psi

2. The core will withstand humidity-aging at 158 degrees F and 100% relative humidity for a period of 7 days with a volume increase not greater than 6.7%. All in accordance with ASTM D 2161.

3. The core will withstand heat aging at 200 degrees F for a period of 7 days with a volume expansion not to exceed 1.4%. All in accordance with ASTM D 2126.

4. The core will withstand cold aging at -20 degrees F for a period of 7 days with a loss in volume not greater than 0.0%. All in accordance with ASTM D 2126.

5. Core material shall have a 95% closed cell structure.

6. Products of combustion (urethane core) shall be less toxic than those of red oak.

E. Panel protection

Each panel shall be protected by polystick on the exterior and interior surfaces. The polystick shall be applied during the continuous line process.

F. Endstiles

The endstiles shall be of 18 gauge galvanized steel, 18”/21”/24" long.

G. Shipping

Each panel pallet shall have a base of foam, masonite board and the whole pallet then completely

stretch-wrapped in a continuous plastic sheet prior to loading on trucks to protect panels from transit

damage.

2.02 Performance Tests

A. Thermal properties

The panel shall provide a "U"-Value of  R-14.5 BTU /Hr. / S.F. / degrees F when corrected to a 15 mph wind condition and when tested by a recognized facility in accordance with ASTM C236. Phone: (386) 255-5391

B. Fatigue Test

There shall be no evidence of metal / insulation interface delamination when the panel is tested by simulated windloads of 20 psf (positive and negative loads), when applied for two million alternate cycles.

C. Bond strength

No delamination shall occur after 2 1/2 hours in a 2 psi 212 degree F autoclave.

Part 3 - Execution

3.01 Material Warranty

Metecno-Aluma Shield warrants that the panels will be free of defects in workmanship and material. Should any defects in workmanship or material appear within one year of acceptance, Metecno-Aluma Shield shall repair or replace any defective material.

3.02 Damaged material

Repair or replace any and all panels and endstiles that have been damaged upon determination of responsibility.
